Friday, November 25th Reminder: Membership Dues

We kindly request that all members (and interested non members) that have so far not paid membership fee for 2011 – 12 to please contact Michael Lait, David Gilmartin or a member of the comitee of the Irish Club.

These monies are necessary to ensure the smooth running of social and cultural events for our members during the coming year.

In addition to the annual Emerald Ball, St. Patrick's Day Parade, and the White Ball, the Irish Club organizes a range of activities throughout the year. These include regular Business Breakfasts with invited speakers, Pub Quizzes in Katie O'Shea's, a Book Club, a Running Club, as well as regular fundraising events for charity.

A large part of the membership fees are used to purchase Christmas gifts for children of the Irish community here in Moscow, which are presented by Santa at a party in December, which is always a fantastic day out.

Please note that only fully paid up members will be included in the invitations for these events.

If there is anybody you know who is also interested in becoming a member, please pass this mail on to them.

Dear All,

As you are aware the Irish Club Committee took a decision to put the funds raised at the Emerald Ball through United Way ! The reason I believe is very clear that as a committee we are not available to visit the organizations’ on a regular basis and also we believe this is a very transparent way fro us all. I spoke to United Way and this in no way will impose on the applications you make to them for other projects.
We raised a total of 1.3 mln rubles and we propose that you get a project proposal in the region of 300,000 – however all projects will be looked at!

Many thanks and the Irish Club hopes this helps in some way!
We will be holding a business breakfast after 7th of April where we will present the money!
In the meantime I suggest you contact Tatiana to get started on the applications,

Warmest Wishes,

Dear All,

I hope everyone had a great summer! Traditionally we do the Summer Party before people leave for the holidays but this year we have decided it to it when we are sure everyone has the possibility to attend and to offer a warm welcome to Ambassador McDonagh his wife Dr. Ana Grenfell McDonagh and their two daughters.
The party will take place hopefully in the garden (if weather does not permit we will host it inside) on September 6th from 12- 4pm.
I would really appreciate for organizational purposes if you could please let us know if you and your families will attend. If the answer is yes please drop me a mail by Tuesday of next week with how many you will be and let me know your children’s ages.
A good afternoon is promised for all big and small!
A warm welcome to Ambassador McDonagh and his family. Many thanks for your support in allowing us to host this at the embassy.

See you on the 6th,
Warmest Wishes,

Good afternoon everyone!

I just wanted to give you all a little update on where we are at the moment and what exciting things lie ahead for us even in these difficult times. We had a very enjoyable breakfast this morning and many thanks to all who spoke and came. We talked about upcoming events and decisions over charities chosen for this year.

March Events

17th — Irish Film Festival premiere - the organizers are Johnny O Reilly and Gerald McCarthy. This is their second year and the line up is amazing.

19th — John Field concert at the Glinka performed by Michael O Rourke - tickets are limited but if you are interested please contact Peter O Connor by mail by COB tomorrow.

20th — Reception at the Irish Embassy- invitation to follow.

21st — Emerald Ball Marriot Grand Hotel - attended by the Lord Mayor of Dublin - tickets are all sold out.
The beneficiaries of the monies raised will be the Guide Dogs and Preodolenie L.
I would appreciate if those of you who are attending could give us some feedback: two paintings have been commissioned and the artists are quite famous- Oleg Nefedkin is one of them - should we run an auction? - could we run a silent auction or should we just have a raffle? - comments please.

Special thanks to Gerry McCarthy for all his help with the PR for the parade.Lastly I want to thank all the committee for all the hard work and effort that has gone in and will continue to make these events as enjoyable and positive as always.
